SAMANA/PATIALA: Trouble brewed in Ghadama Pattia area of Samana assembly constituency on Saturday night when a vehicle hit into some chairs laid out by Congress workers for a public meeting of party candidate Raninder Singh.
While the Congress alleged that the vehicle belonged to Akali Dal leaders, the latter denied that they had anything to do with the incident.

According to senior Congress leader Ramesh Singla, who has been appointed in-charge of Samana constituency by the party, Congress supporters had organized a street meeting in Ghadama Patti area of ward number 4 in the evening. Raninder was scheduled to address the area residents at 8pm. But around 7.30pm some Akali supporters led by municipal counsellor Harry Pal allegedly crashed a vehicle into the chairs.
"Harry threatened our supporters before fleeing. Raninder has asked party workers not to take law into their hands. We would complain to the election commission against it," said Singla.
Harry denied the allegations and charged that Congress workers first started raising slogans against SAD when he was crossing from near the function site. "I was headed for my house in Ghadama Patti area. The Congress workers not only raised slogans against SAD, but also broke my vehicle's lights," alleged Harry.
When contacted SHO Samana city, Ranbir Singh, confirmed the incident, but said the police were trying to verify the claims and counter-claims.
